Creatividad y Educación // Creativity and Education System

Llevo tiempo buscando información sobre este concepto y es mucho lo que he encontrado. Me gustaría compartir con vosotros algunas reflexiones y datos que me parecen muy interesantes. Comenzaré con la creatividad y su relación con el sistema educativo.

Cuando estaba en el colegio y teníamos que preparar una actividad que estaba fuera del programa educativo, digamos por ejemplo la celebración de una festividad, siempre me molestaba que se eligieran las clases de dibujo o pretecnología para este fin. ¿Por qué no matemáticas o lengua? ¿Por qué se consideraban estas materias tan importantes? más bien la pregunta sería ¿por qué no se le daba tanta importancia a las otras? Y la cosa no quedaba ahí. Si dedicabas más de tiempo de la cuenta a estas últimas y mostrabas un mínimo de interés, en seguida venían con eso de: -con el dibujo no llegarás muy lejos-, -tú no vales-, -dedícate a otra cosa-.

Estaba claro que nos preparaban para un futuro en el que el dibujo, las manualidades, la música o la educación física no tenían ninguna aplicación.

Hoy en día esto ha cambiado y mucho. Y no me refiero al sistema educativo que sigue anclado en los años 50, sino al mundo laboral. Cada vez se nos exige más y más y se empieza a hablar de creatividad e innovación. Pero ¿Cómo vamos a ser creativos e innovadores si se nos ha enseñado precisamente lo contrario?

Hace tiempo encontré una conferencia de Sir Ken Robinson que hablaba precisamente de esto: ¿Matan las escuelas la creatividad? Desde entonces he leído mucho sobre el trabajo realizado por este experto en creatividad.

El vídeo que os muestro hoy se llama: Cambiando los paradigmas. Está en inglés con subtítulos en español aunque ya os adelanto que se entiende muy bien. Dura algo más de 10 minutos y es bastante entretenido. 

I have been looking information about this concept for a long time and I have found a lot of about it. I would like to share with you some thoughts and facts that I consider very interesting. I will start with Creativity and its relation with education system.

When I was at school and we had to prepare an activity that was out of the education program (for example, a holiday’s celebration), I was always upset when teachers used drawing or crafts classes for this purpose. Why don’t they use math or language classes? Why these subjects were considered so important? Rather the question would be: Why they considered drawing or crafts less important? Even more, If you spent a lot of time with these activities and showed an interest in them, they said:- You will not get anything drawing -, - you are useless – Spend your time doing something different-.

It was clear that we were preparing for a future where drawing, crafts, music or phisical education had no application.

Nowdays, this has changed a lot. And I don’t mean the education system which is still anchored in the 50’s, but to working world. Every time we have to demostrated more and more and It begins to talk about Creativity and Innovation. But How can we be creative and innovative if we have been taught just the opposite?

Some time ago I found a lectura by Sir Ken Robinson speaking precisely about this: Do schools kill creativity? Since then, I have read a lot of about the work of this expert in creativity.

The video that I show you today is called: Changing Paradigms. It is in English with Spanish subtitles although I advance you that It is very easy to understand.  It lasts just over 10 minutes and is quite entertaining.

Llevaba tiempo pensando en crear esta sección para compartir con tod@s vosotr@s aquellos vídeos cuyo mensaje ha calado en lo más profundo de mi ser. Dicho así puede parecer algo complejo y místico pero la verdad es que está bastante alejado de ello. La mayoría son vídeos con un mensaje muy simple.

Sin más, me gustaría inaugurar esta sección con mi favorito, que no podía ser otro que “The Last Knit”, el corto de animación dirigido por la finlandesa Laura Neunoven.

El vídeo es de 2005 y sé que muchas de vosotras ya lo conocéis. 

Me siento muy identificada con esta adicción loca por tejer (en el caso de la protagonista) o por hacer algo con mis manos (en mi caso). Muchas veces aún no he terminado con la manualidad que tengo entre mis manos cuando ya estoy pensando en la siguiente. Cuando voy en el metro, estoy caminando o cocinando, mi mente no para de pensar en nuevas ideas, nuevos materiales, colores… Incluso, cuando la inspiración me viene por la noche, no me deja dormir.

I’ve been thinking to create this seccion for some time. I’d like to share with you videos which message has made a deep impression on me.  If you put it like that it sounds complex and mystic, but the truth is that it’s away from that. Most of them are videos with a very simple message.

And now, I’d like to open this seccion with my favorite one: The Last Knit. This is an animated short film directed by a Finn called Laura Neunoven.

This video was created in 2005 and I know it’s very popular. 

I feel really identified with the crazy knit addition (in the case of protagonist) or with the addition of keeping my hands busy (in my case). Several times, I haven’t finished the craft I am working with, when I start thinking about next one. When I’m travelling on the subway, walking or cooking, my mind is always thinking about new ideas, materials, colors… Even, when the inspiration come during the nigth, I can’t sleep.
