Inspiración y Creatividad // Few words about Inspiration and Creativity

Hoy me gustaría hablaros de inspiración y creatividad, dos conceptos muy relacionados entre sí. Es más, yo diría que el segundo no existiría sin el primero. Así, mientras que la inspiración significa “recibir el aliento”, la creatividad hace referencia a la generación de nuevas ideas, pero, aunque éstas sean “nuevas”, siempre proceden de un proceso de asociación de otras anteriores; o así lo veo yo.

Today I would like to talk about inspiration and creativity, two concepts that are related between them. What’s more, I will say that the second doesn’t exist without the first. So, while the inspiration means “get the breath”, creativity is related with the generation of new ideas but, even they are new, they comes from an association process of previous ones; that is how i see it.

Estaréis de acuerdo conmigo en que nos vemos influenciados por el medio en el que vivimos. Todo lo que vemos, oímos, olemos, tocamos, etc nos afecta en alguna medida.

You will agree with me if I say that all of us are influenced by the environment where we live. All we see, hear, smell, touch…. is modified us in some way.

Así, confieso que la inspiración llega a mi a través de la naturaleza, los juguetes con los que se entretiene mi pequeño (que están llenos de color y formas divertidas), los cuentos que leía de pequeña...

In this way, I confess that the inspiration comes to me through the nature, the toys that my Little boy plays (they are full of colors and funny shapes), the stories I read when I was a child….

Pues bien, llegados a este punto, me gustaría compartir con vosotros mi proceso creativo. Y para ello os pongo de ejemplo el último proyecto que he tejido y del que me siento muy orgullosa.
At this point, I would like to share with you my creative process. And for that I will use, as example, the last crocheted toy I made and I feel very proud of it.

Todo empezó un día bañando a mi pequeño cuando me di cuenta de que estaba rodeada de cangrejos. Él jugaba en el agua con un libro sobre un cangrejo y, al mismo tiempo, se dedicaba a pegar y despegar un cangrejo con ventosa que tenemos en el baño. Todo enfadado porque a veces no había forma de despegarlo de la bañera.

All starts one day when I was giving my Little boy a bath. I noticed that we were surrounded by crabs. He was playing with a book about crabs and, at the same time, he was sticking and unsticking a crab that had a suction pad.

 
Luego durante la cena, viendo un capítulo de su serie favorita, volvía a salir otro cangrejo. Y me dije: -esto no puede ser- tengo que incorporar un cangrejo a la colección!- y, como me suele pasar, ahí quedó la cosa.
After that, during the dinner and watching one chapter of his favorite cartoons, I saw a crab again. So, I said: -well, I have to add a crab in my crocheted toys collection.
  
Nota: todas estas situaciones hacen referencia a la inspiración. Desencadenan en mi el proceso creativo.

Note: all these situations is related with inspiration and trigger the creative process.

Éste normalmente comienza cuando estoy realizando otra actividad, por lo general, rutinaria. Se enciende la bombilla y entonces empiezo a dibujar en mi mente ese nuevo animal.

Me lo imagino en 3D y también con distinta gama de color, aunque esto último al final se ve condicionado por los colores que tenga disponibles en mi caja de algodones. Normalmente dejo pasar una o dos noches porque, después de consultarlo con la almohada, siempre obtengo nuevas versiones de este animal.
This creative process starts when I am doing a routine activity. Then, the bulb turns on and I start drawing this new animal on my mind. I imagine it in 3 dimensions and also with different colours although the color depend of the cotton balls I have in my cotton box. Usually, I let pass one or two nights, because after I consult with my pillow, I always get new versions of this animal.

Cuando ya no puedo resistirlo más, porque la idea me persigue en mi mente día y noche como si pensara que se fuese a escapar, cojo mi libreta y mis lápices de colores y me pongo a dibujar. Solo necesito hacer un pequeño boceto para que mi mente se relaje y se quede tranquila, quedando libre para pensar en otras cosas.
When I cannot resist any more (because the idea keeps day and night in my mind how if it thinks he is going to go away), I take my book and my pencils and start drawing. I only need a simple sketch in order to let my mind be calm and becomes available to think in others issues.

Y ahora sí, con la idea ya sobre el papel, busco mi libreta de patrones, aguja, algodón y empezamos: R0: anillo mágico de 6pb, R1: 12 pb….

And now, with the idea in the paper, I look for my pattern book, my needle, cotton and start: R0: magic ring 6pb, R1: 12 pb….

Y aún me quedan otros dos momentos mágicos!!

El primero es el de diseñar y presentar distintos ojos y bocas para crear la expresión de la cara, algo que considero es de vital importancia.

El segundo es el de ver la cara de mi hijo cuando se lo entrego. Él, a pesar de su corta edad, es el que hace de jurado. Hasta ahora estoy teniendo mucha mucha suerte porque a todos los animalitos les da un aiiii muy grande y les estampa un beso!!

And I have two more magic moments in the process.

First, to design and play with different eyes and mouths to create the facial expression, something that I consider very important.

Second, to see the face of my Little boy when I give it to him. He, despite of his young age, is the judge. Until now I have had very good luck and all crocheted animals are received by my son with a big hug and a kiss.
